Dorian Williams – Founder & CEO

Atlanta College Preparatory Academy™

For more than 27 years, Dorian Williams has been a dedicated leader, mentor, and advocate for young people in the Greater Atlanta community. As Executive Director of In Time of Need, Inc. since 1997, he has overseen the design, marketing, and delivery of programs that have transformed the lives of countless youth and families. Under his visionary leadership, In Time of Need, Inc. has become a trusted organization known for its innovative initiatives, community engagement, and measurable impact.

Through Hoop Dreams Athletics, one of his most successful youth development programs, Mr. Williams has spent nearly three decades helping student-athletes leverage their talents to access higher education. His guidance has opened doors for young men and women to secure both academic and athletic scholarships, blending athletic discipline with scholastic achievement to set them on paths of long-term success.

In his role, Mr. Williams has:

  • Led program innovation by developing new initiatives that address evolving community needs.
  • Maintained programmatic excellence through rigorous evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Built partnerships with schools, colleges, community leaders, and government officials to expand opportunities for youth.
  • Recruited and developed strong teams, fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
  • Served as a passionate spokesperson and advocate, raising awareness and support for youth development across the Atlanta region.

As Founder & CEO of Atlanta College Preparatory Academy™, Mr. Williams extends this legacy of impact into the educational space. His vision for ACPA is rooted in the belief that excellence in academics and athletics can and must go hand-in-hand. By uniting rigorous college-preparatory academics with leadership development, public speaking, global pathways, and a commitment to character, Mr. Williams is building an institution where students — known as Trailblazers — are prepared not just to graduate, but to lead, serve, and thrive for generations to come.

For over 27 years, Mr. Williams has been a tireless advocate for youth development through education and athletics. As the founder of In Need of Time, Inc. and creator of Hoop Dreams, he has dedicated his career to guiding student-athletes toward opportunities that combine academic excellence with athletic achievement. His leadership has helped countless young people earn both academic and athletic scholarships, opening doors to higher education and lifelong success.
